HMTV Canada Interviews 5 Days Dirty

www.myspace.com/5daysdirty

HMTV Canada Tina: 1. Hi 5 Days Dirty How are you?

5 Days Dirty: hey there! were doin pretty good

HMTV Canada Tina: 2. Any band member win or entered skate boarding competitions so far to date in East Bay California?

5 Days Dirty: haha no comps.. just street skating and whatnot. although we had a skateoff with Hit The Switch, a Nitro Records band that we toured with.. there may or may not be videos of the rediculous skate off on you tube haha

HMTV Canada Tina: 3. Curious how did 5 Days Dirty meet and when did you form your band?

5 Days Dirty: We all knew eachother from way back in the day.. we had a different drummer for the first couple years of 5DD, then Steve joined us. haha Steve's very first show with us was at an ampitheatre in San Fanciso with the almighty GWAR. 1200 people. not bad for a first show with your new band.

HMTV Canada Tina: 4. Since Shane passed away have you found a new Bass Player?

5 Days Dirty: Well 5DD actually Started after he passed. But he was there and involved with everything that led up to 5DD. He was a rad bass player and loved punk rock!

HMTV Canada Tina: 5. How has Shane influenced your Lyrics for inspiration?

5 Days Dirty: He has influenced every aspect of our band, lives, friendships, lyrics.. everything. When you hear us you are hearing parts of him as well.

HMTV Canada Tina: 6. Shane impacted your lives and music in many ways, can you mention a little bio about him, personality musical background how you met?

5 Days Dirty: Like I said before he was a great bassist, and an amazing friend. He was unique and very artistic and loved music as well as art. Creative, smart, very likeable and influential. He was the best friend anyone could ask for.

HMTV Canada Tina: 7. Do you have any punk bands that have influenced your style in music?

5 Days Dirty: Yea tons of them.. Nofx, pennywise, Bad Religion, 88 fingers louie, and lots more! We really like Streetlight Manifesto too as far as ska/punk.

HMTV Canada Tina: 8. Are any of the band members in college or working jobs currently?

5 Days Dirty: nothing too crazy.. a lil junior college and some random jobs.

HMTV Canada Tina: 9. What are some of 5 Days Dirty highlights for 2008? What can the fans expect?

5 Days Dirty: Well we wont know the highlights until they happen haha ..expect big things though.

HMTV Canada Tina: 10. When 5 Days Dirty comes out with their first CD what ideas do you have for quality art?

5 Days Dirty: We have already self released a few cd's over our 6 years together.. but there is an artsist we're working with right now on a few things.. he's badass. Chief Industries out of the Sacramento CA.. check him out!!

HMTV Canada Tina: 11. Will you involve your fans to help out in the design of your CD cover?

5 Days Dirty: yea sure, whoever has a great idea, hit us up!!

HMTV Canada Tina: 12. Do you plan to stay unsigned and make the move towards digital distribution of your music? 5 Days Dirty: We've talked with some GREAT labels and would love to sign a good deal.. but until then we will continue to sell our music ourselves on tour, online etc.. HMTV Canada Tina: 13. What do you look for in a record label if a record company offered you a deal?

5 Days Dirty: We would want a label who believes in us as much as we do. Who are down to work hard with us and get 5DD to the masses properly. We'll take care of the rest by touring our asses off!

HMTV Canada Tina: 14. Do you have a constant changing approach to try new things when it comes to recording or mixing your music?

5 Days Dirty: We pretty much just work closely with the engineer/producer to get the sound we want out of each recording. We rock the song, they work the magic. We've been lucky enough to record with people who have worked with bands like GreenDay and other big names; so they know what to do :)

HMTV Canada Tina: 15. What is your criteria for a well mixed or engineered song?

5 Days Dirty: FAT everything! haha if everything sounds fat and clear then its all good. We've never really had to deal with going into a studio and coming out dissapointed. a little cash, a great engineer, pro equipment.. and your good to go.

HMTV Canada Tina: 16. What do you find better for self promotion having your own Street Team within your local area or the internet for networking with your fan base?

5 Days Dirty: The best self promotion to me is touring. We got really popular in the bay area pretty fast (two years or so). and since then every bay area show is packed. so the next thing to do was go to other towns, states, and build a fanbase there. we did. Playing a show is like planting a seed. If you tour and rock the shit out of people, word spreads pretty fast. and Obviously the internet has revolutionized self promotion. I dont think its a choice, its more like a standard; bands today MUST use the internet, end of story. Street Teams are effective but not always reliable. If you make a fan, you've essentially made a street team member. If they like you then they will tell people about you.

HMTV Canada Tina: 17. How is the Internet working as a marketing tool and collaborating with PR's and networking with the fans for 5 Days Dirty?

5 Days Dirty: all I gotta say is MYSPACE. you know it, you love it, you use it. So do we.

HMTV Canada Tina: 18. Where have you performed, have you shared the stage with other big bands and do you have any upcoming shows?

5 Days Dirty: We've toured the entire western region of the USA, about 11 times. And have played every type of venue from coffee shops to sold out Ampitheatres. Have played with bands like -GWAR -STREETLIGHT MANIFESTO -FLYLEAF -WHOLE WHEAT BREAD -U.S. BOMBS -KILL RADIO -LEFT ALONE -MC LARS -SUBURBAN LEGENDS -DEVIL DRIVER -D.O.A. and LOTS more! We've also played bigger events like Warped Tour and Boarding for Breastcancer shows. ALSO: check out our myspace (myspace.com/5daysdirty) for upcoming tourdates and music and all of that fun stuff!

HMTV Canada Tina: 19. What do you think of the music industry today the pros and cons of the business and what would you like changed?

5 Days Dirty: That would take a LONG time to reflect on. haha, I'll just say that the current trends are silly.

HMTV Canada Tina: 20. What are your hopes and goals for the future?

5 Days Dirty: We would love to be able to do this for a living. Great label, Big tours, good money and all of that. I think we're getting close, and we're gonna keep chugging at it and putting out beautiful music!

HMTV Canada Tina: 21. Before we close our interview do you have any shout outs or any last words?

5 Days Dirty:
Support: Local and unsigned bands!
Parents: buy your kids an instrument.
Cereal: tastes good AND is good for you :)
Also: Big Canadian bands, take us on tour up there!!
much love
5DAYSDIRTY
